BRAGGING HUMBLY ABOUT BEING LAZY. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY PROUD ONE. REMEMBER, IT COMES BEFORE A FALL.
So, it’s the tenth day of the month already and I was thinking hey! I just said happy new month. And no, I’m not going to say how time flies. *smiles* Since the last few days, I’ve been excited about one, the Christmas break. Secondly, I’m going to spend time with my family meaning no classes. Lastly, I have more time to write and plan ahead.
I’m not going to beat around the bush. So here it is.
I’ve always reppped team lazy and truth is I’m getting a bit uncomfortable with the club. Don’t get me wrong. Sometimes, laziness may just be your overwhelmed brain taking a break. If Cambridge dictionary defines lazy as not willing to work or use any effort, then being lethargic and lacking motivation would not necessarily be accounted for as being lazy.
Leave or take, laziness is real!
Most definitely, we all have lazy days and they are good when in moderation. However, there is a thin line between being a person who needs to recover and a person who wakes up to Netflix, doughnut, coke, vodka, snacks and nap daily.
AVOID THE DEADLY LAZINESS LOOP
It is way too easy to look (and find) for a million excuses why you have to be lazy than learning the table of elements ( I don’t still know it though, I’d just rhyme along). Don’t get too comfortable with being lazy, with being lackadaisical about matters that are meant to be handled with great care and seriousness. Sooner or later, it would take a toll on us.
SELF REFLECTION (WHY YOU DO WHAT YOU DO)
Most times being productive is as a result of its end benefit. You go to work because there would be a return monthly, you take your pills when you’re in a not-so-good-shape because you need to stay healthy. We hang out with friends because we love them and because we want to create memories with them. So next time, when laziness comes crawling, you could send it back and trust it, it’s always slow. But remember why you do what you do and get back to work. Get back to grooming that plant or whatsoever task you need to get back to. You’d be happy you did.
“Do something today that your future self will thank you for”
ADD AN ‘X’ OR A VERY GOOD SIGN
While a to-do list is very helpful and important, aligning your to-do list with what you think you will do rather than what you should do may not prove to be efficient. Since productivity is trying to get things done more effectively and efficiently with a lesser amount of time and energy and producing great results, (so there’d be time for other things) why on earth would you want to do less work with less effectiveness and zeal and expect a great result? Wait, let me guess why. Laziness placed a call through.
For every task that was written down on your to-do, check it out and move on. Remember the goal is not to look busy or be busy. The goal is to be productive..
DELEGATE (IF THERE’S SOMETHING BETTER SUITED FOR SOMEONE ELSE)
Assigning a task or an assignment to someone who can take responsibility is meant to be an act a ‘lazy’ person would jump at. However, reverse is the case because we try to do everything by ourselves at the same time and then we fall into the loop. We become exhausted and would go on to look for other activities to ease ourselves with.

GUILT DOESN’T HELP
Our emotions can play with us at anytime and knowing when to believe it and when not to would turn out to be very helpful. At the same time, don’t forget to be true to yourself.
Beating yourself up for being lazy for the past only God knows when would not help matters. It’d only help you to do better at what you’ve been doing before which is being lazy.
It would turn out to be a great strength when we know the right time to talk back to our senses and tell negativity to shut up so you can concentrate better at the task at hand. Don’t beat yourself up,. It never helps the situation.
DO THE THINGS YOU ENJOY. APPRECIATE YOUR LAZY TIME
This point goes out to the ones that have put in the work when and where necessary. Then, you can take a chill pill, sit down and enjoy Netflix. That was on a lighter note though. During your lazy time, you know. You always know when you are being lazy (no faking). Your lazy time is meant to be enjoyed truly. Like I wrote earlier. You’ve put in the work, you’ve done your part and so you’re free to slack off to feel revitalized. You could become motivated and energized during this period and honestly, it’s not a bad idea.
“let yourself be motivated by your laziness, and then reward that motivation with your preferred time-waster once you’ve made room for it. You’ll find it’s pretty helpful”- Alan Henry (lifehacker.com)
GET OTHERS TO KEEP YOU ACCOUNTABLE
In a previous post, I talked about having an accountability group when it comes to the aspect of balancing our lives and side hustles. Here, you are to be held accountable to persons through your words and your actions and trust you on this one. You don’t want to be the one to bail on them. They feel and think you are responsible so live up to that expectation just this one time. Be responsible.
So that’s a rap beautiful people 😘. What do you think about laziness and lazy getting in your way. Kindly leave your thoughts, experiences and lessons. Let’s connect! 🤗
